John Kinley
Bio
In the 1960s, John started singing, writing songs and playing guitar and singing and playing in church. He expanded in the 1970s, when he started performing in concerts and he also recorded his first album “Introducing John Kinley “. In the 1980s, John performed in clubs and concerts, opened for Billy Joe Royal, and recorded his second Album “Pennsylvania on my mind”. In the 1990s, he wrote a musical play “Mary Virginia Wade” which had eight performances locally. John earned a BFA in Music Composition and Theory and studied voice and classical guitar at Marshall University. He sang with the Marshall Choral Union and the Renaissance Singers (which was directed by Janice Chandler Gold). During the last 20 years, John has sung and played guitar, mandolin, and bass with the Praise Teams and Bands at Union Missionary Baptist Church, New Song, Sanctuary of Grace and most recently Lewis Memorial Baptist Church. Also over the past year and a half he has performed in Caberets with Alchemy theater company and a pre show for Hart in the park. Last Summer John hosted and performed in the Singer Songwriter Showcase and A Gospel Sing with a Mission. Then in the Spring he got to sing Mozart’s Requiem with the WV Symphony Chorus. In July John played guitar in the band for “Godspell “ while his son George played Jesus. Music has been a part of his life as long as he can remember. John is so glad to be able to use his passion for the glory of God!
