Bill Kincaid
Bio
Bill Kincaid is the author of Performing Shakespeare Unrehearsed, published in 2018 by Routledge/Taylor & Francis. He is the founder of Bard in the Barn, which produced Unrehearsed performances of 17 of Shakespeare’s plays, and has acted in Unrehearsed productions with the New England Shakespeare Festival and No Holds Bard in Ouray, Colorado.
He is now Professor Emeritus of Theatre at Western Illinois University, where he ran the acting MFA program for 17 years. While there, he received the College of Fine Arts and Communication Creative Activity Award, Outstanding Teacher Award, Outstanding Research Award, and Outstanding Service Award. He is also a three-time winner of the Classical Acting Coach Award from the National Partners of American Theatre, and served many years as the Irene Ryan Acting Scholarship Auditions Coordinator for Region 3 of the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival. In 2014 he received the Illinois Theatre Association’s Award of Honor for Outstanding Contributions.
In retirement from academia, Bill maintains a busy professional schedule, recently directing at the Clinton Area Showboat Theatre, Festival 56, and Ozark Actors Theatre. Other acting and directing credits include productions at the Williamstown Theatre Festival and Florida Repertory Theatre, as well as many seasons with Indiana's Brown County Playhouse, Crossroads Repertory Theatre, and the Cortland Repertory Theatre in upstate New York.
